Personal Life

President Buhari was born on 17^thDecember, in Daura, Katsina State to Adamu and Zulaiha Buhari. President Buhari was raised by his mother, following the death of his father when he was about four years old.

He had his primary school education in Daura and Maidua from to , before proceeding to Katsina Middle School in Subsequently, he attended the Katsina Provincial Secondary School (now Government College, Katsina) from –, where he earned his West African School Certificate. President Buhari was married to Safinatu Yusuf from to , and since to Aisha Halilu.

He is blessed with ten children.

The inauguration of General Muhammadu Buhari as President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria on May 29, was historic as it marked the first time in the country’s history that a victorious opposition candidate was taking over from an incumbent President.
